About Big Time Rush
Big Time Rush is an American pop music boy band formed in 2009. The band is currently composed of Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Carlos PenaVega. They were signed with Nick Records in 2009 before transferring over to columbia Records.
Older fans compare Big Time Rush to previous television show backed band, The Monkees,. With some even claiming that they are the boy band to prove that pop boy bands are still relevant in today’s music market.
As for Big Time Rush’s show, it was a Nickelodeon TV series that ran from November 28, 2009 to July 25, 2013. The show’s pilot featured the group’s first promotional self-titled single, “Big Time Rush”. Since this single, the band went on to produce 3 full-length studio albums.
But in 2014, the band went on a hiatus. Some fans worried that Big Time Rush was done for good. But then the band came back stronger than ever in 2021 with the single, “Call It Like I See It.”
Musical style and themes
The band got their start as a children’s TV series on the Nickelodeon cable network. Because of this, the group was presented as “child-friendly” with musical styles and differences that define them. After their first studio album, Jessica DAwsom from Common sense Media wrote, “Big Time Rush is a standout, not only because of their boyish charm and good looks, but because their music is a cool blend of synth-pop, hip-hop, and boy-band harmonies.”[
In fact, the band’s musical style can be best described as pop-inspired dance-rock.
